This course is for anyone who prepares for the FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) certificate under 14 CFR 65 subpart B, whether a new tower controller, a contract tower trainee or a military controller. 14 CFR 65.35 is the syllabus: the flight rules of part 91, airport traffic control procedures and subpart B itself, en route procedures, communications procedures, flight assistance, air navigation and aviation weather.
The pass mark here is the real one: 70 percent, which the FAA's CTO Study Guide (TS-14-1) sets for the CTO Airmen Written Test. The FAA does not publish how many questions that test has -- it is a paper test given by a Designated CTO Examiner, not a computer test at a testing centre, so it appears in no FAA test matrix -- and FAA Order 8000.90C allows no maximum time for it. The mock test here is 60 questions with 42 to pass, so the count is ours and the mark is the FAA's.
