New York Motorcycle

This course teaches the New York motorcycle knowledge test. It covers safe riding: gear, controls, curves, traffic, hazards, passengers and alcohol. It is the test for a motorcycle endorsement or a motorcycle licence, and it is separate from the car knowledge test.

Passing the knowledge test does not by itself let you ride. You must also pass an on-cycle skills test, unless New York waives it for a rider who has completed an approved rider course - one of the things that differs most between states, so confirm it with the agency.

The test is given by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, not by this site.

You sit it at a licensing office. New York DMV office locations lists them, and many take appointments rather than walk-ins, so check before you travel.

The endorsement age, the documents to bring, the fee, and whether an approved rider course can stand in for the on-cycle skills test are all set by New York, and they change. Confirm them on New York DMV licensing.
